The Krewe of Mischief Presents the Wonderful World of Disney
The Krewe of Mischief held its 6th Mardi Gras Ball on February 23, at the American Legion in Sulphur. The theme for the Ball was “The Wonderful World of Disney.” Founders Celina Wilburn, Garland Holbrook and Tammy Newman led the parade before introducing the 2019 Court.
A final farewell went out to the 2018 Court: Duke Dez Sims and his Duchess Lora Sims, Duke Kevin Young and his Duchess Amy Young, and King Garland Holbrook and his Queen, Trang Holbrook.
The time came to introduce the 2019 Court to the members and guests. Duke of Mischief, Jay “Cornbread” Lanclos and Duchess Kim “Diva” Lanclos are both residents of Sulphur and were “hitched” on Fat Tuesday of 2017, aboard the Krewe of Mischief float. Duke Jay is the son of Jeffrey Sr. and Connie Lanclos of Washington, La. And is a 1993 graduate of Sulphur High School. He has been an operator at PCA in DeRidder for the last 19 years. Duchess Kimberly is the daughter of Michael Sura and the late Lauren Sura of Woodhaven, MI and is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University. She works as a cost analyst for ReCon Management at Firestone Polymers. The Duke and Duchess are the proud parents of three daughters and two sons: Lakyn West and husband Dallas of Spring, TX, Kenzie Brown and husband Adam of Dry Creek, and Ambria, Trey and Kaleb of Sulphur. Together they enjoy camping, cooking, playing cornhole, hanging out by the pool and spending time with friends and family.
Duke of Mischief, Kalop “Jamie” Vincent and Duchess Donna Vincent live in Sulphur and have been married for four years. They are the parents of Valerie, Hailey and Tyler. Duke Kalop is the son of Suzie Vincent of Sulphur and is a graduate of Parkview. He is employed by Citgo. Duchess Donna is the daughter of Floyd and Kathy Martz of Lake Charles and is a graduate of Barbe High School. She is employed at AllStar. When Kalop and Donna are not working, they enjoy cooking, playing darts and sitting by the campfire hanging out with family and friends. When Kalop gets some time away, like most Southern men, he enjoys shooting his guns.
Finally, the 2019 King and Queen were announced. King Jeff “FaFa” Landry and Queen Shana Landry reside in Carlyss and were recently married in August of 2018. King Jeff is the proud son of Steve and Celeste Landry of Carlyss. He is a 1992 graduate of Sulphur High School and is employed by SMWP. Queen Shana is the daughter of Raymond and the late Connie Thibodeaux of Hackberry. She is a 1990 graduate of Hackberry High School and is employed by Intertek Caleb Brett. Together they are the parents of Dillon Thibodeaux and wife Ashton of Singer, Shelby Seay and fiancé Trevor Nunez of Creole, and Laken Thibodeaux of Hackberry. They also enjoy spoiling their three beautiful grandchildren, Kynzlee Brooke, Channing Charles and Cooper Tayt. The newlyweds love cooking together, camping, playing cornhole, cheering for the LSU Tigers and most of all; King Jeff likes taking his beautiful Queen dancing.
A toast to the Royal Court was made by all. Jester Dez Sims led the Court for a Second Line stroll and the party commenced. As we say here, “Laissez les bons temps rouler!” And this Krewe does it Mischief style!
